Today there is a post about the "boat-draw" for the Waterski National Championships and all we can say is "What?"
The boat draw for the 66th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, presented by Speedo, has been announced. The Nationals will be held Aug. 12-16 at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla.ugh...
To view the boat draw, click here (pdf) or visit the official Web site of the Nationals by clicking here. Boat manufacturers will make a decision in regards to which speed control systems will be used prior to July 1.

What? Guess this is important and all to someone, but why?
I like drawing ships. its better then working.
ReplyDeleteDude, the boat draw is a random drawing to determine what division will ski behind what boat. It's helpful to know ahead of time whether you'll be skiing a Malibu, SN, or MC so that you can get some practice time behind the boat you'll be skiing at Nationals.
ReplyDeletemakes sense. are there alot of people who have access to the different boat to practice on before hand?
ReplyDeleteI would think it would be way more fair if you had no idea what boat you were going to get. or maybe let people choose what boat they ski behind in each event. I could never afford to go ski behind all 3 major brands. Im just happy I get to ski behind a MC. I have no access to a SN or Malibu. seems rigged towards the richer skiers.
ReplyDeletemeh...i don't think its "rigged" towards rich skiers. I would hazzard a guess that at least 1/2 the people who are skiing in these and that are at that level ski in some sort of club or whatever where a bunch of people get together and they have different boats at a lake. just a guess though.
ReplyDeleteIf you ski at a National caliber, then chances are you know plenty of people who will gladly give you a pull behind whichever boat you need the practice on.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who goes to tournaments on a regular basis will start to make friends with all the other skiers, and before you know it, you have a whole network of people that are probably pretty willing to give you a pull.
haha. Thats what she said!!
ReplyDeletei tend to agree with anonymous #3. The point of our competition rules committes should be to make this sport as fair as possible. Counting on people knowing people is not a very sound concept.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of letting peeps pick from the big 3.
would't there be an issue with logistics though? if everyone had their choice of boat, wouldnt it slow things down and/or cause you to need three drivers and spotters for every discipline?
ReplyDeleteIn tricks they do let you choose between boats. I just think it would level it out a bit. as right now someone who skies behind a nautique full time would be at a disadvntage to some one who skis behind a mailbu if the latter boat is chosen for their specific event. And I would think at an event like nationals they could probably scrounge up a few more drivers.
